Google Business
Creating a listing on Google Business gets you into Google Maps and local search results
Improve your visibility through business.google.com
Nowadays it is very hard to get your website high in Google search results, as you are competing with big worldwide brands such as Airbnb, Tripadvisor and booking.com. There is, however, one way that provides a good opportunity to appear on the first page of local search results and at the same time to present your business on Google Maps.
Create a listing on Google Business
You can add your business on Google Business and allow your customers to find you in Google local search and on Google Maps.
You may already appear...
You may already appear on Google Maps and in local search results. Google gathers this information from different sources. It is not always correct or may be incomplete. And if you are not managing this information yourself, it may not show the pictures you like. Follow the next three steps to get in control.
Get started
Step 1: claim your listing
Log in with your business Google account. Then go to maps.google.com, find your business and look for an item called 'Claim this business,' it is in the column on the left near your address and phone number. Step by step this will allow you to set it up under your own business Google account and enter the most important details.
Step 2: Verify
Verification methods may vary. If you have the option to verify by phone/text, then please do so. That is the quickest option. If you only have an option to have a postcard sent, then do so. If you are in an area where mail delivery is poor and you do not receive your Google postcard after two weeks, then you can go to Google for support.
Step 3: start editing
Then you can start working with your listing on business.google.com to ensure that all information is correct and up to date and showcasing the photos that best reflect your story. Moreover you can now reply to reviews that were left on Google.
Keep your listing alive and kicking
You may want to check on a regular basis if your information is still up to date. Since everyone else can post pictures (some with poor quality and maybe not the aspects of your business that you wish to highlight), you may want to post quality pictures to move down the poorer quality photos.
It makes sense to post updates once in a while, too. When you post new content directly through your Google Business listing, you are sharing relevant content and information about your local business, which contributes to building your location authority. This tells Google that your business is legit. It is likely to help get better positions in the search results.
